Museum of Life Sciences

Hello! I will talk a little about my activities and tasks in the museum. I've worked as a mediator and in the maintenance of the collection.

To carry out this work I took a course that provided me with the necessary knowledge for the Museal practice.

Atividades Museu

Cleaning of Collection

The specimens are fragile, many of them from the anatomical area, therefore real. For this reason there is a lot of care.

Cleaning is carried out with brushes, fine and light bristles brushes, and the necessary equipment such as gloves and also masks if desired.

Mediation/Guide

Being a mediator/ guide is a very enriching job, because at the same time I can offer knowledge also learn.

I've presented the sections of the museum to the general public, Human Evolution was the section that I went deeper.

Plastination

The main piece of the Museum of Life Sciences is the "Fascinating Body", also known as "Sliced". It is owned by the MCV and also participates in major external exhibitions.

In addition to the Fascinating Body, 99% of the Museum’s specimens are preserved by the technique of plastination.

Técnica Plastinação

Anatomical Area

This area is composed of real specimens, preserved by the plastination technique or by formaldehyde.

Widely used for study, allowing the detailed analysis of the human body in its different phases.

Get to know a little more

I've always liked Museums and History, so I have this area not only as a hobby, but as my second line of work. I tell my experience with pleasure and use it for the study of languages, especially French, which I am learning.

My experience in the Museum of Life Sciences happened at the same University where I graduated in Social Communication. I learned and could teach with great satisfaction what I have to offer of knowledge.

Here I present to you a little bit of what I experienced and learned in this wonderful Museum.
